My oldest brother likes to jump off things. In September last year it was a cliff in northern Italy. He had a parachute but it didn’t open properly. He smashed into the side of the cliff several times, breaking the impact with his legs before coming to a stop on a narrow ledge, from which he was extracted by helicopter and flown to hospital where emergency workers treated his life-threatening blood loss and reattached his right foot. Miraculously, he had no head, spine, hip or knee injuries. Instead, he did a pretty good job of damaging his lower legs. Anyway, he is pretty much housebound while his body continues to heal, so, after hanging out through the afternoon with a couple of uni mates, I visited him in this evening to distract him from his plight. I failed. As we sat down to watch the first Mad Max film, the power of the setting sun was too overwhelming and I promptly fell asleep on the couch approximately 1.4 minutes after sitting down.
