I visited Subiaco markets to buy 3-4 week’s worth of vegetables. I am going to need them for my mission to cycle the Gibb River Road later in the year. On my return home I cut up and loaded a tonne of onions into the dehydrator. While they were drying I had a picnic with Paula in Hyde Park, eating baked potatoes and chocolate. I am setting myself up for trouble by spending time with her but I’m happy enough to do so nonetheless. Before we knew it the sun was gone and the day was ending. I raced home to exchange dried onions for fresh ones. Then I stayed up late to swap the onions with carrots. It was at this point I realised my life for the next few days is about to be controlled by slowly shrivelling vegetables. I set an alarm for early morning so I can rescue the carrots and commit a new load to a hot, dry fate.
