Matt (The Bicycle Bloke) picked me up in the morning and took me to his house where I had left my bike yesterday for him to fix. My rear brake is now working again. Thanks Matt!!! I spent the rest of the day repairing other gear. Because most of my gear is still practically brand new, I am used to having stuff in pristine condition. This means my automatic reaction to breakages is, Oh no, where am I going to get a new one? Such thinking, however, conflicts with my desire to reduce my footprint on the world. I am also not in a financial position where I can constantly replace gear. As a result, I am starting to enjoy learning how to repair my stuff rather than replace it. Today I swapped tyres around on my bike to balance out their wear, sealed a hole in my packable backpack, resealed the leak in my water bladder (this time from the inside) and fixed my broken selfie stick.
