Sandfire proved to be a good lunch target and it was nice to come across a roadhouse with obvious pride in its history and appearance. Peacocks paraded around. Caps, number plates and an assortment of road signs adorned the courtyard. A little pond produced an attractive oasis. Just past Sandfire, the road turned in a more northerly direction and the wind, until then a relatively trouble-free crosswind, started abusing me. It was still a crosswind, but instead of hitting me square on the side, it was coming into me at an angle. I struggled for the rest of the day.
