It was very hard work getting up this morning. I strapped a paddle to my bike and rode out to Dimond Gorge where I spent the day on the water. Returning about 4.30pm, I showered and headed over to ‘Sculpture by the Creek’, Mornington’s version of the Sculpture by the Sea series of exhibitions. It is great to witness the comaraderie of the Australian Wildlife Conservancy (AWC) staff here and it reminds me of my time working for AWC back in Perth, nine years ago. Some of the sculptures were exceptional. My favourite was Jane’s: a spider-web woven out of fishing line that had caught invertebrates made of bush material. I chatted with Laura about Flores in Indonesia. She lives there with her husband Willy for part of each year and they may be there when I pass through.
