I am having a pleasant end to an unpleasant day. This riding the Gibb River Road thing isn’t much fun anymore. My average speed today (8kph) is testament to the conditions. I am still loving being out here in the Kimberley – it would take a long time for me to tire of that – but I am nearly at the very end of what I can endure with regards to the rough road. My day turned around when I ventured down a track to find a place to camp and the track just happened to be the access point to Bindoola Falls, which I didn’t know was there. The falls were dry but the pool at the bottom was magical. It is such a wonderful feeling to stumble upon an unexpected surprise like a stunning waterhole at the end of a terrible day. I clambered down into the chasm and enjoyed an hour and a bit swimming and resting in the shade, and attempting to catch fish with my t-shirt. The pool was full of large fish that curiously swam around my legs without a care in the world. I was unsuccessful.
