– The adventures of a solo round the world cyclist –

Day 222 (Australia – Top End)

I am starting to think the little minions operating my body’s evaporative cooling system have left a tap running. I’m not riding and the sun isn’t even up, yet sweat is pouring out of me. Somehow, the flyscreen of my tent inner is still a barrier to the ever-so slightly cooler air on the other side. I would sleep out in the open except that there is what sounds like a hundred hungry mosquitoes buzzing outside. There must have been a decent amount of rain out here in the last couple of days because as I walked around looking for a perfect tent spot I would pass through patches of intensely humid, rising air. During the day I took cover for five hours in the shade of a bridge, although even in the shade it was scorching hot.
