My friend Megs picked me up at 1pm and took me to her mum’s house. My other friend Jayden picked both of us up from there. The three of us are back together! We have been good mates since we were at university together. We were off to a party in a village called Fairbridge to celebrate the life of a company called Outback Ecology. Everyone who had ever worked for the company had been invited to the party and it was the reason I had returned to Perth. Jayden, Megs and I have all worked for Outback Ecology at different times. Jayden was the first one. When I returned home after a couple of years of backpacking, I asked Jayden with whom I should get a job. Jayden (who was no longer with the company) told me to give the boss a call. I did as he suggested and three weeks later they gave me my dream job as a zoologist. Fast forward three years and I was still with the company, which was now in need of a new botanist. I suggested Megs should apply and I told Outback Ecology they should give her a go. She got the job and we got to work together for about seven weeks before I left to start riding around the world. This meant that all three of us got to be a part of the Outback Ecology family and were welcome guests at the reunion party. At 2pm we started drinking. At 6.30pm we got ready for the ‘formal’ evening. At 8pm dinner was done. At 8.01pm the band was playing and we were dancing. What happened through the rest of the night is a bit hazy.
