I caught up with Sean and had a couple of pints at the Brass Monkey. Then I had dinner with my parents and brother to celebrate my dad’s birthday. He loved the card I got at Darwin’s Nightcliff markets. It featured an intricate pop-up motorcycle. As the overseas part of my journey draws near I am starting to feel a great sense of accomplishment. I feel as if I have made it. As if I have arrived. It’s like beginning the trip was opening a door and taking a step across the threshold; and it’s like the journey till now has been walking down an ever-widening corridor until it opened up into the place I am now. This place is a boundless space that contains my whole adventure and everything that will happen from now, everything to look forward to. No matter where I go within this space, I will only have success. Because I have made it. After years of thought and planning, I am doing it. I can call myself a cycle-tourer, an adventurer. I am in the midst of fulfilling one of my great dreams. And it is the best feeling ever.
