I started the day thinking, ‘I have become so fit I could keep riding these kind of hills for many more days’. I ended the day thinking, ‘Please, no more! I don’t want to see another hill from a bicycle seat for a very long time’. Today was an extreme challenge. I expected the hardest climbs I have ever had and I got them. Not only was the terrain difficult, but it just got hotter and hotter as I approached the coast. Eventually, I reached the western tip of the island and the town of Labuan Bajo, pretty much marking the end of my ride on Flores. I’m not quite sure how I feel about being in Labuan Bajo. It’s been long time since I have been a place that is remotely touristy and I am not sure if I like it. I kind of just want to turn around and escape back into the peace of the rural areas.
