– The adventures of a solo round the world cyclist –

Day 382 (Australia – R & R)

It is coming as a massive relief that I am finding myself genuinely looking forward to getting back on the bike. I don’t think I could have said the same a couple of weeks ago. I think looking back through my photos, and my overseas ones in particular, has rejuvenated my passion for cycle touring. I finally feel ready to throw myself into the adventure once again with the same energy I had when I started. Perhaps this will become a pattern: travelling for ten months or so, then having a couple of months off the bike to rest up and wait for myself to get bored again. Two months seems to be a good period of time to get a bit bored and feel ready to face the demands of cycle touring and push push myself to my limits once again.

    Hello Mark,

How are you doing. When i’m right, you’ve got plans to start again with your cycling tour around the world ?
Why did you stop, because off health conditions?

    Greetings from Roelof, the Netherlands

Hi Roelof. At this point of the diary, yes, I wanted to give my backside more time to recover. Being in Bali was the perfect chance to fly to Perth (only $100) to see family and friends. It also gave me the time to open up my website etc. I have just finished another trip home, which was to arrange new visas and attend a cousin’s wedding. I’m hoping for a smooth run from now, until I reach Europe. Hope you’re well. And hopefully see you in Holland at the end of the year!!
