My last full day in Malaysia has gone well. After about five hours sleep I rose to begin the arduous task of cleaning the bombsite inside my tent and packing up my bike. Once done, I raced to Ewan’s for breakfast. Back at Maya’s I had just enough time to sit down with Kinga and pass no some information about Malaysia and Indonesia. Then it was time to go. It was really nice feeling to have so many friendly people to say bye to, especially knowing that on leaving the island I would be on my own once again. I didn’t have to wait long on the jetty before shooting off to the mainland. I popped by the ticket office to say thanks and bye to the girls who helped me get across to the island. One of them gave me a key ring to remember them by. After filling my stomach with food again, I hit the road and didn’t stop until I reached Kota Bharu. I checked into a hotel’s backpacker room, washed myself and my clothes, and then headed out for some grocery shopping and dinner. I was thinking I’d done well to spent almost all my Malaysian money until I realised I will need some for a ferry ride tomorrow. I picked up some open internet while I had dinner and did some research into basic Thai phrases so I can at least say hello to people once I cross the border tomorrow.
