I placed one condition on myself as I ventured out for dinner: leave enough room for dessert, as I planned to visit Swensen’s. I first encountered Swensen’s when I was in Thailand as an 18 year old, on a month-long trip with a school friend. As Perth lacks such a wondrous establishment, my friend Sam and I just had to try it out. So excited were we to come across a restaurant dedicated to dessert that we decided out final dinner in the country would consist of nothing but ice cream. It didn’t take us long to each choose the Earthquake. While Sam made the mistake of choosing only chocolate (chocolate ice cream, chocolate sauce, chocolate sprinkles), I favoured a fruity mix. Sam couldn’t finish his. I just managed to finish mine. By the end of the night we were both regretting the entire experience! This time I went for small, cheap option and it was delicious. Thus ended my third night in Surat Thani. My legs feel almost back to normal, so I’m heading back out on the bike again tomorrow.
