– The adventures of a solo round the world cyclist –

Day 501 (Thailand Day 48)

When will I learn?! I can’t have three weeks off the bike and then just get back on and ride over a hundred kilometres without consequences. I have strained my left Achilles tendon, my left knee and both quads. For some reason my body just let me ride and ride without giving me any signs of the trouble it was getting into. I only had one break in the day before reaching Ayutthaya, where instead of finding a place to stay immediately, I spent several hours exploring the island and its historical temples. I rode around the south via Chai Watthanaram Temple and St Joseph’s Church, then caught a ferry over the river and onto the island, where I wound my way through the Historical Centre to the reclining Buddha.
