After a breakfast smoothie, I spent a couple of hours cleaning my bike of all the mud that had attached itself during my ride over the hill from Tak. I also washed my bike seat, cycling sandals (still stink though), camera case and camera lens. My next task was to organise my gear so that I’m ready to leave come morning. These activities took me to lunchtime, when I joined Nonglak for a meal at her friend’s house. We enjoyed Som Tam (papaya salad) with fried chicken and some kind of vegetable-salady dish. It was so unbelievably delicious. Thai food was already my favourite cuisine, and this trip has done nothing to change that. I’m going to miss it so much when I leave tomorrow. In the afternoon I joined Nonglak to a shopping centre where I stocked up on enough food to get me through the next few days, then I returned to the café near the house to access the internet, treating myself to a banana/peanut butter smoothie in the process. I wasted some time on social media before doing a bit more research about Myanmar, especially its turbulent history. Tomorrow I will see the place for myself!
