Day 521 (Myanmar Day 9)
It took me several hours to complete an online application form for my Indian visa. The trouble was the internet connection. I had decided to go to a fancy hotel to use their WIFI when I thought I’d just give it one more shot. It finally worked. My next task was to find the Air India office and inquire about sending a bicycle on one of their planes (the border between Myanmar and India is currently closed to overland travellers, so I have to fly over). I had found multiple addresses for the office on the internet, so my search took me along two streets in different parts of the city. I saw no sign of an Air India office anywhere. While enjoying a street meal for dinner I chatted to a man who told me where he thought the office is. I will head there tomorrow. While I only saw a small piece of Yangon today, I really liked what I saw. The old buildings have so much character. I think grungy is the best single word to describe them. I’ve never seen a place like Yangon before; so many influences coming together in an eclectic and attractive mess.

Lots off succes, Roelof
Hi Roelof. This IS last year (my diary is one year behind). Before I moved to Bike World and met you guys I stayed downtown for a few days.
Ahhh ,so you are not doing this in real time. You had me fooled. Well I’m glad you didn’t kill yourself at any point of the trip as i thought you were pushing your body hard. I thought you had awfully good internet connections and were managing your time extremely well. Louise
Yes, in order to maintain a daily story in the face of limited internet access I delayed publication. I explain this briefly in the sidebar.
Well I was a bit slow to pick that up. I was too drawn in by your posts! You are doing a great job with the blog. Reliving it now… I know the feeling.
