Day 592 (Nepal Day 18)

For how long can I lie on my stomach? It is the only position that gives me slight relief. The pain in my stomach is worrying and I haven’t been able to eat anything. I have lost a lot of water through watery diarrhoea, so I’m probably a bit dehydrated too. It’s 2.30am and I’m yet to fall asleep because the pain is just too much. I’m in serious trouble.

You need oral rehydration solution to prevent dehydration.

    Ingredients:
Six (6) level teaspoons of Sugar
Half (1/2) level teaspoon of Salt
One Litre of clean drinking or boiled water and then cooled
You can add lemon juice and 1 teaspoon of bicarbonate

I like your posts and I feel sorry that you are going through such difficult days. I hope you get well soon.

My guesthouse is right next to a medical centre. It’s not a ‘good, big hospital’, but at least one doctor speaks perfect English. It’s okay…I get through this ☺

Oh goodnes! Take care! As you know I’m sure – there are doctors and there are ‘doctors’.

I think try to find one that the foreigners go to. That’s what we do in Cambodia anyway and it seems to work for us. I’m thinking that where you are maybe even less sophisticated than Cambodia so that plan may not work for you. Here’s hoping!

Yeah in this case I think it would have involved travelling for 1-2 days. Not the best case when I needed the toilet several times every hour!

Certainly not the best situation!! Hang in there and keep up the electrolytes!
