Day 709 (Australia – Home break)
Tired, sluggish and heavy. That’s how I have felt today. It was after 3.30am when Dan and I reached home. After dinner and drinks at the Belgian Beer Café (the food was terrible), we walked into Northbridge and ended up at Mustang Bar. I have no idea where the time went from then.
I dragged myself out of bed and had a shower before heading out to grab a paper. I visited my parents, who were at Central Tafe managing a political party’s station at the polling centre. Today was Western Australia’s state election (2017). I returned home with a plan to get some work done but in the end I couldn’t bring myself to do any. I ate breakfast, read the paper and then watched some YouTube videos. I’m a little addicted to watching episodes of America’s Shark Tank at the moment. In the evening I visited my parents again and helped them pack up the displays advertising the Perth electorate candidate they support. While they went to a post-election party, I went to Domino’s and returned home with a pizza, which I ate while watching the results of the election filter through on the TV. It wasn’t very long before it became clear that Labor would win. I didn’t vote in the election as I’d removed myself from the electoral roll before leaving Australia on the bike 15 months ago.
