I have gone and done it now. My back is well and truly pulled and I’m in a fair bit of agony. It happened when I lowered my upside-down bike to the ground in readiness to undo the rear brake from the frame and attempt to solve the issue of its non-retracting brake pad. I’d spent the afternoon working on the brake and had succeeded in regaining pressure in the lever, but not fixing the pad problem. I got frustrated enough to begin assessing the practicality of replacing the whole hydraulic system (Magura HS33) with a V-brake one. Right now though I can’t do anything, such is the pain in my back. I can only hope I will be able to tend to the bike tomorrow and proceed with my to plan ride out of Kashgar on Sunday. I’d spent the morning resting my sick body/head. Things are not going well.
